Butler Boys Basketball Tournament in the books

The Butler Boys Basketball Tournament concluded Saturday afternoon as the Harrisonville Wildcats defeated the Nevada Tigers 53-36 to win the tournament.

Harrisonville was led in scoring by Junior Keller Johnson who had 16 points and Sophomore Jaxton Chrostowski added 13 to secure the victory for the Wildcats.

Metro Academy took home 3rd place as they ran away from the Rich Hill Tigers to get the win. In the consolation game the Pleasant Hill Roosters beat the Adrian Blackhawks 56-43.

Happy Retirement Dana!

On December 19, BCMH celebrated the retirement of Dana Hilbus after an incredible 47 years at Bates County Memorial Hospital! Starting in purchasing and radiology, Dana spent 45 years as a certified pharmacy technician, helping shape our pharmacy department.

Her retirement was celebrated with cake, flowers, and a special plaque from CEO Greg Weaver. Dana shared many fond memories of her time here, and Mark Jones, former Director of Pharmacy, thanked her for her key role in the department's growth.

Dana’s dedication has left a lasting mark on BCMH, and we wish her all the best in this next chapter of her life!


Obituary - Cynthia "Cindy" Jo Cumpton


Cindy was born March 6th, 1962, in Clinton Missouri. The daughter of Bobby Jo and Sharron Polzin, of Creighton Missouri. Cindy departed this life on December 19th, 2024, at her home in Urich Missouri.

Cindy attended Urich elementary and then later attended Sherwood High School. In her early years Cindy was a member of the Creighton Wranglers. She and her horse Mindy won many blue ribbons running the barrels and kegs. She also rode in the American Royal Parade.

She was also a member of the Sherwood Marching Marksmen and was picked to travel to Florida to march in the Mickey Mouse 50th birthday parade.

She played softball in the summer months and was often picked to play in the all-star games.

She graduated with the class of 1980. Cindy found her soulmate when she met Curtis Lee Cumpton, and they were united in marriage on July 25th, 1980. For 44 years they shared a love that only got stronger over time. They welcomed Chancey and Bobbie making their family complete. Together they made many memories taking cruises, trips and spending time at the lake, just to name a few. Cindy was a prankster even in childhood and up until her final days.

Cindy retired from Mike Keith Insurance after 37 ½ years. She was enjoying her retirement and believed that everyone should be retired.

She was a member of the Salvation Lutheran Church, a devoted Christian and believed in the life everlasting.

Cindy was proceeded in death by her parents Bobby Jo and Sharron Polzin, mother and father-in-law, Karen Haggerman and Thomas Cumpton, and two brothers in law, Clint and Cliff Cumpton.

Cindy is survived by her husband Curt of the home, son Chancey Cumpton (Emilee) and granddaughter Stevie Cumpton of Archie, Missouri, daughter Bobbie Jo Cumpton of Lubbock, Texas. Sisters Linda Helm of Creighton, Missouri, Brenda Escalante (Marcos) of Urich, Missouri, and brother Rob (Tina) Polzin of Garden City, Missouri. Many nieces and nephews plus family and a host of lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with interment at Lutheran Cemetery, Creighton, Missouri.

Adrian Basketball loses today to Pleasant Hill

Adrian Basketball loses today to Pleasant Hill...

In the Consolation game of the Butler Boys and Girls Invitational Basketball Tournament the Adrian Blackhawks lost 56-43 to the Pleasant Hill Roosters.

The Blackhawks was led in scoring by Senior Cole Hamilton who had 18 points to lead Adrian.

Adrian now moves to 2-3 on the season and they will be back in action on January 7th as they will host the Lamar Tigers. Enjoy some photos from today's game below.





Butler Bears Basketball secures first win of the season today!

The Butler Bears Varsity Basketball team secured its first win of the season today 46-37 against University Academy.

Butler was as led in scoring by Junior Jake Chandler who had 15 points and Freshman Jesse Carter added 12 to help the Bears get the win.

The Bears will now move to 1-6 on the season and they will be back in action on January 3rd when they host the Nevada Tigers. Enjoy some photos Below from the win today over the Gryphons.

Osceola JH Lady Indians Basketball Team finishes the season undefeated

We would like to congratulate the Osceola JH Lady Indians Basketball Team who ended the season undefeated and WEMO conference champs. Go Indians!
 

Butler Girls Basketball Tournament in the books

Butler Girls Basketball Tournament in the books...

The Butler Girls Basketball Tournament is officially in the book and the University Academy Lady Gryphons are the Champions and honestly really dominated this tournament for the 2nd year in row!

University Academy defeated Pleasant Hill in the championship game tonight by a final score of 54-44. The Lady Gryphons were led in scoring by Senior Anonda Ford who had 22 points to help University Academy get the win!

In a rematch from earlier this year the Adrian Lady Blackhawks finished with a 3rd place trophy as they defeated the Butler Lady Bears with a final score 48-29. Adrian was led in scoring by Senior Riley Essenpries who scored 20 points to close out the victory for Adrian.

The Harrisonville Lady Wildcats defeated the Appleton City Lady Bulldogs in the consolation game tonight 50-49, This was a hard fought game that went down to the wire.

The Boys will finish up tomorrow as the Butler Bears play University Academy at 11:00 a.m. for 7th place. The Championship game will be Nevada vs. Harrisonville at 12:30 p.m.
