Another cold weather record broken


 
The National Weather Service says that Kansas City has broken the record low for the date with a current temperatures of -7! This breaks the old record of -6 set in 1935.

Good news, we will rebound to the 40's starting later this week:



Lady Blackhawks have a day of fun and learning in Columbia

 

On Saturday, three Adrian FFA members traveled to Columbia to compete in the first annual Tiger Cup Floral Design Contest. Seniors Emily McCammon and Addy Nebocat, and Junior Lilly Talley all say they had a great time and learned a lot as their work is seen here.

Dr. Parelman set for retirement

 

Wishing Dr. Joseph Parelman a happy and fulfilling retirement
  After more than 30 years of dedicated service, Dr. Parelman is retiring from providing ophthalmology surgical services at Bates County Memorial Hospital. Since 1990, his expertise in cataract and other eye surgeries has been invaluable to our community, offering patients the convenience of receiving care close to home.

Dr. Parelman’s final day with us was today, January 20, and we celebrated his incredible contributions with a departmental lunch organized by Surgery Dept. Manager Kristie McKee, RN, and a visit from our CEO, Greg Weaver.

Dr. Parelman is looking forward to spending more time in Colorado, enjoying outdoor activities and the next chapter of his life.
Thank you, Dr. Parelman, for your years of service and commitment to the health of our community. You will be missed!

Obituary - Marcia Kay Eagleson

Marcia Kay Eagleson, 75, Nevada, MO, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at her home in Nevada. Marcia was born July 27, 1949 in Kansas City, KS to Harold Charles and Lois Marie (Tomlinson) Wesoloski. She was united in marriage to Jackie Eagleson on April 12, 1969 in Shawnee, KS and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2015.

Marcia was born in Kansas City and graduated from Turner High School in Turner, KS with the Class of 1967. She, along with her husband Jackie, came to Nevada in 2002. Primarily a homemaker all of her life, Marcia was known as “Mom” to all of her kids’ friends. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking, reading and telling jokes.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Claypool, Nevada; a son, Russell Eagleson (Kristi O’Brien), Ft. Wayne, IN; six grandchildren, Olivia Eagleson, Zane Claypool, Cole Claypool, Kaitlyn Claypool, Sadie Claypool and Molly Claypool; sister, Sharon Green (Ron), Ankeny, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; and two great-grandchildren on the way. In addition to her husband Jackie, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Bradley Wesoloski.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
