7 earn All-State volleyball honors
Congratulations to the following student-athletes who earned Academic All-State honors this volleyball season: Adyson Clover, Kamden Fennewald, Lanie Hill, Tandee Hiser, Toree Hiser, Kalie Korkmaz, and Georgia McCoun. To earn this honor, athletes must participate in 75% of their team’s Varsity sets and maintain a 3.6 cumulative GPA or higher.

The Lady Whirlwinds had a big first round win over Rich Hill 62-15 in round 1 of the 95th Annual Archie Tournament. They will be back in action Wednesday night. The boys play tonight at 5:30 p.m in the west gym. Other scores here:

Burhart named Harrisonville Area Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year
Congratulations to Paul Burhart, Construction Technology Instructor at Cass Career Center, for being named the Harrisonville Area Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year.
Paul’s dedication to shaping the future of construction technology and his commitment to inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals have left a lasting impact on students and the community. Obituary - Jackie Dale "Jack" Kimlin Jr
Jackie Dale "Jack" Kimlin Jr passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025. He was born on August 10, 1958, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Jack Sr. and Norma Kimlin. He worked as a general manager in the food and beverage industry. Jack was united in marriage to Janice Horsey on September 9th 2007. He was a member of the Mound City First Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family, Friends, his dog Arnie, riding his Harley, hunting, especially bow hunting, fishing, spending time at the lake and was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Michael. Jack is survived by his wife, Janice, three sons, Jess Morley, Jackie Kimlin, and Joshua Kimlin, a daughter, Danyelle Odom, a brother, Rodney Kimlin, two sisters, Vickie Gibson and Suewanna Freeman, and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Mound City First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Curry Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 pm to service time at the Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church.
