BCSO welcomes Sarah Eager

Bates County Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New Community Resource Liaison to Support Families and Reintegration Efforts of Inmates.

Bates County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the hiring of Sarah Eager as its new Community Resource Liaison. Sarah has a deep commitment to supporting families and individuals navigating complex challenges, including those involved in the court system and struggling with substance use. Sarah’s commitment to at-risk individuals is based on her first hand experience of the devastation caused to families by substance abuse and the fentanyl drug epidemic.

In this vital role, Sarah will connect community members with essential social services, focusing on families of court-involved individuals and those navigating mental health challenges, with a particular emphasis on drug treatment and recovery programs. Responsibilities include:

*Providing comprehensive resource referrals for individuals and families impacted by the justice system.

*Supporting families of substance addicted individuals, offering guidance and resources during their loved one's incarceration and upon release.

*Navigating the complexities of mental health services, including connecting individuals with appropriate treatment options, with a specialized focus on drug treatment and recovery programs.

*Assisting individuals in accessing drug treatment and recovery resources, including detox, rehabilitation, and aftercare support.

*Facilitating connections with community organizations offering support services such as housing assistance, employment training, and food banks.

*Working closely with local law enforcement, social service agencies, and community partners to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to community support.

*Providing crucial reentry support for inmates being released from jail, helping them successfully reintegrate into the community by providing them resources they need to succeed.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Sarah Eager to our team. Her expertise in connecting individuals with vital resources, particularly in the areas of court involvement and substance use recovery, will be invaluable to our community. We are confident they will make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve." - Sheriff Chad Anderson

Sarah is a 1995 Graduate of Harrisonville High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University after High School. Sarah has been a special speaker at the fentanyl forums here in Bates County sharing her personal expertise. Sarah is passionate about the importance of the unified fight to combat the most dangerous illicit drugs like fentanyl and the importance of recovery along with continued support for addicted persons and their families.

“I am passionate about empowering individuals and families to overcome challenges and build brighter futures. I am thrilled to join the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and work collaboratively to provide comprehensive support, particularly for those navigating the complexities of the jail system and the journey of drug recovery.” Sarah Eager Community Resource Liaison

Sarah began her role as the Community Resource Liaison in December. Sarah has been working hard to build a comprehensive list of community resources to provide them to our community members. Sarah is working hard to build resources that can be provided to inmates who are released from incarceration, to begin the process of recovery and to reduce recidivism.

Members of the community are encouraged to contact Sarah at or 660-464-4523, Seager@BatesCountySheriff.com or visit her at the Community Resource Office at 13 W Dakota, Butler MO 64730.
