Minor MVA overnight

SO FAR SO GOOD There are no reports of serious accidents however, overnight the Bates County Sheriff's Office was on the scene of a vehicle vs snowplow near the I-49/west 52 overpass.

Only minor injuries were reported.

Radar update with snow moving out this afternoon

The above is a screen shot as of 7:40 am and fortunately there are some gaps we'll experience before the entire storm moves out of our region around 1 pm or so.

Road reports are "not too bad" as the snow is rather dry and we didn't get the predicted ice. Use caution and take your time today, and so far there have been no reports of major accidents in the area.

Obituary - Edgar Joseph Westhusing

Edgar Joseph Westhusing, 71, born January 14, 1954 to Ludger J. and Agnes M. (Lesmeister) Westhusing, departed this world on January 10, 2025 at Appleton City Manor in Appleton City, Missouri.

Edgar was a “people” person, who never met a stranger, and loved visiting with everyone. He enjoyed listening to music, riding his bike around the neighborhood, picking up aluminum cans and just visiting. He also enjoyed going to tractor pulls, parades, car races, rodeos, mud runs or wherever his brother, Bryan, would take him. He also loved working with Bryan on the farm and making sure his two dogs, Corky and Puppy Dog didn’t miss out.

He loved his extended family at Appleton City Manor during the past two years, especially when he was allowed to shoot them with his nerf gun.

Edgar had attended State School #37 at Passaic, Missouri and graduated at age 21. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri.

Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Phyllis. Survivors include his brother, Bryan Westhusing of Montrose, Missouri; his sister, Nancy (Doug) Snodgrass of Appleton City, Missouri; his nephew, James Brandon Snodgrass of Appleton City; two nieces, Courtney Kay (Jeremy) Fry of Sedalia, Missouri and Jayme Marie (Dillon) Kepley of Appleton City; his great-niece, Eliza Ann-Marie Fry; and his great-nephew Grayson Wayne Kepley.

Edgar had a special heart for all his nieces and nephews with a special name for each of them. His neighbors would ask him daily about them and what they were doing.

A big “Thank You!” to Heartland Hospice, Appleton City Manor and Ellett Memorial Hospital for all the kind words and actions during his stay there and through this difficult time. You all are the GREATEST. He loved you all.
