Madison Kennedy to appear as Kelly Vines in upcoming ACT production

APPEARING AS KELLY VINES IN OUR UPCOMIING PRODUCTION 'THE HOUSE AMONGST THE WILLOWS' by Robert Scott . . .

Hi, I’m Madison Kennedy, I’m a senior in high school and hopefully when I graduate I will go to college to major in Musical Theater. I love to sing, dance, and act. In my spare time I like to write and workout, when I’m not feeling too lazy. I really couldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family, friends, and my amazing boyfriend. I’m glad to be a part of this production and I can’t wait for you all to see it!

You will not want to miss this performance... twists and turns like we've never done before. 'Two weeks only' April 4th - 6th and April 10th - 12th.

See www.actadrian.com for details and to order tickets.

A mild morning then much colder later today

And the Mayor's Blackhawk Pride Award winner is...

Adrian Mayor Matt Cunningham proudly presented the 2024 Mayor’s Blackhawk Pride Award to State Champion Coach Davis this week.

The special award is given to those who "Make Adrian a great place to live" said Cunningham and this annual tradition will continue as he believes those who bring a unique dynamic to our community should be recognized for their efforts.

The wind's a comin

THE WINDS HAVE ALREADY picked up and there's more to come toward mid-afternoon.

Portions of central Kansas are under a wind advisory; we are not, but expect some strong gusts.
EVEN SO, today and tomorrow is the bright spot in the forecast.
TAKE NOTICE NOW of the extreme cold I'm seeing for the middle of next week. Tuesday and Wednesday overnights look brutal - with a daytime high **in the single digits** Wednesday.
OOF.

Search warrant leads to arrest and drugs off the street

On February 13, 2024, at approximately 1:35 PM, the Miami County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in the 600 block of W. Wea Street in Paola, Kansas. The warrant was issued as part of an ongoing investigation related to two cases from late 2024 and early 2025. A burglary investigation and a theft investigation.

During the search, deputies located a male subject hiding inside the residence. He was identified as Brandon Standley, 36, of Paola, KS, who had an active felony warrant. Standley was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of stolen property listed on the search warrant, marijuana, and methamphetamine. Additional charges are being submitted to the Miami County Attorney's Office for review. Deputies are working with the victim to return the stolen property.

There were no injuries reported during the operation. The Miami County Sheriff's Office extends its gratitude to the Paola Police Department for providing animal control equipment and to Miami County EMS for being on standby during the execution of the warrant.

This investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

There was some special serenading at the Bates County Administration building this morning as the gents and ladies alike belted out Cupid's favorites as seen here. According to staff, their efforts and showmanship were greatly appreciated.

From the organizers of the Amsterdam St. Patrick's Day Parade

Last week we got a good old Irish nudge that Amsterdam had it's own long time resident having a birthday on ST. PATRICK'S DAY! On March 17th, G.W. Morris will be 97 years old

How could we let this pass, we will honor him and give him a "Seat of Honor" in the 11th Annual St. PATRICK'S parade and what a way to start his 97th year.

G.W. the father of 3, married to Pat Smith, making a unforgettable Amsterdam family of 8, with 18 grand kids, 29 great grands and 4 Great Great.. leaving his mark.

Help us wish this long time resident and closet leprechaun a Happy 97th birthday as he takes his "Seat of Honor" on March 15th at the 11th Annual St Patty's parade At 2pm.
