Noticeably warmer to begin the week

SUNDAY FORECAST calls for a sunny & quiet 50-degree day! It sets the stage really for the rest of the week:
THE UPPER-LEVEL pattern keeps flow out of the NW, which brings in dry air aloft; a surface trough & broad ridging across the south will hold off any significant moisture chances from the Gulf.
All week, pretty much.
SO THAT MEANS this warming trend really gets going for Monday-Tuesday and the overall pattern is quiet and above-average temp wise.
SLIGHT CHANCES FOR rain find northern Missouri on Wednesday, but I don't see anything but a pretty quiet week ahead for us.
Have a great Sunday!

Some sad news from Climax Springs

From a Facebook post by the Climax Springs school district. The tragedy followed games played with Northeast Vernon County on Friday

Last evening, after attending an away basketball game, three recent Climax Springs graduates were involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident. Ava Wolfe, Jayden Butterfield, and Violet Corado. Ava and Jayden were both beloved employees of the District, who dedicated their time and talent to our students each day.

As students, all of these individuals left a legacy within our school. The District will host counselors for our students and staff on Monday and Tuesday of next week. As the families and our community grieve the loss of lives which held many great things ahead of them, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Actual Road House now open in Jasper, Mo

Mike Kelley of Lamar, Mo obviously is a big fan of the 1989 movie "Road House" starring Patrick Swayze however, as the movie location was set fictitiously in Jasper, Mo some thought maybe it should be made real.

Kelley announced on Facebook yesterday that while not a bar, but a really nifty gas station/convenience store is now open in Jasper and is creatively themed after the movie.

Based on initial response from the post, it's likely the Jasper Road House Double Deuce will become a regular landing spot from those traveling all over the country.

Miami county deputy receives special recognition

On April 8, 2024, Deputy Yeast conducted a traffic stop in the area of 259th Street and Metcalf Road. During the stop, K9 Clay was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and 114 grams of methamphetamine were located.

The National Police Canine Association learned of this seizure and this week awarded Deputy Yeast and K9 Clay with the Detection Case of the Quarter for the 2nd Quarter of 2024 for the North Central Region.

Congratulations to our K9 team on the well-deserved award!
