Obituary - Mary Jane Coon
Mary Jane Coon, 73, Walker, MO passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. Mary was born November 4, 1951 in Kansas City, KS to Edward and Beatice Olivia (Rives) Mayes.
Mary was raised in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Rosedale High School in 1969. Following high school, she worked for a time as an Administrative Assistant at Kansas University Medical Center. After moving to this area, Mary lived in several of the area towns including Sheldon, Nevada, Lamar, and Golden City. She has lived in Walker for the past two years. Mary loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed watching wrestling on TV.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cassie Bray (Jeremy), Sheldon; five grandchildren, Dalton, Dallas, Ashleigh, Dakston, and Farleigh; four sisters, Iris Walker (Butch), Harrisonville, MO, Debbie Nims (Walt), Golden City, MO, Linda Richards, Golden City, MO, and Carol Ummel (Jeff), Reeds, MO; a brother, Barry Mayes; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also left behind her beloved pets, Luckey, Sena, and Tigger. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Doug Mayes.
A Celebration of Life will be held announced at a later date.

Graveside service and interment for Harold Siebert of Sugar Creek, Missouri will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Rich Hill, Missouri. Harold Dean Siebert, age 86 of Sugar Creek, Missouri died Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Tiffany Springs Rehab and Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born January 10, 1939 to Melvin Harold and Daisy Marie Christensen Siebert in Independence, Missouri.
Harold grew up in Independence, Missouri where he attended grade school at Rock Creek and Central High School. Harold was a crane operator for Armco Steel from 1966 until his retirement in 1996. On July 17, 1970 he married Leone “Toni” Wilson in Miami, Oklahoma. Harold was an Army veteran.
Harold was described as opinionated, man of his word, independent and truthful. He loved reminiscing, vehicles (which he called “rolling works of art”), watching steam train engines, eating out at different restaurants and traveling with his wife Toni.
Harold is survived by close friends Rick Dehn and wife Cindy Gurney of Windsor, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Judy Siebert of Holden, Missouri; a brother, Charles Siebert of Mission, Texas; and a helpful friend, Ashley Dehn of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Toni Siebert on January 25, 2008; and a brother, Wesley Siebert.

2 seriously injured as vehicle slams into hair salon in Louisburg
Today 03/18/25 around 12:30 PM Officers of the Louisburg Police Department, along with First Responders from the Louisburg Fire Department and Miami County EMS were dispatched to the Safari Hair Salon in the 900 block of W. Amity Street, regarding a motor vehicle crash, where a subject had driven into the business and had struck two people who had been inside the building. On arrival it was learned that a male subject driving his pickup travelling west on Amity Street had left the roadway east of Rogers Road onto the the south curbside and had continued traveling eastbound before they ended up driving though the east business wall of the building.
The driver continued through the building and struck the two occupants who were inside at a desk, before continuing through the western wall of the business, where they struck a parked car in the parking lot. The two people, a male and a female were both transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for additional treatment, with one being in critical condition and needing immediate surgery, while the other was listed as being in serious condition.
The male driver of the pickup was treated on scene for minor injuries by EMS. Due to the serious nature of this accident, assistance was requested of the Miami County Sheriff's Office who provided their CHART and crash reconstruction team to assist in the investigation, and KDOT responded to help with traffic control as the two eastbound lanes of traffic had to be closed while crews were on scene. Appreciation is given to all who had to drive through the location this afternoon where the roadway conditions inconvenienced their travels and temporarily delayed them.
This crash is still under investigation.

IT WAS A BIG DAY at the corner of Main and Chestnut streets in Butler as the Alley Tavern was honored as the Butler Area Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month. Likewise, a ribbon cutting was performed for the adjacent newly remodeled Tavern Hall event space.
