Archie FFA students recognized during annual banquet

BCMH makes strong showing at annual Chamber banquet

 


We had a wonderful evening at the Butler Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet last night! A big thank you to the Chamber for hosting such a fantastic event—it’s always great to connect with fellow community members and celebrate local businesses.

Representing the hospital at the event were (from left): Jerry Jones, Board Member; Beverly Shade, wife of Jim Shade, Board Member; Kristina Anderson, Director of Human Resources; Andrea Jackson, Marketing/Public Relations Coordinator; Linda Jennings, Board Member, with her husband, Bob Jennings. Also in attendance was Doncella Liggins, Director of Health Information Management and Butler City Council Member.

Obituary - Douglas Eugene Joseph

 


Douglas Eugene Joseph, 60, of Fort Scott, Kansas died Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. Doug was born on August 6, 1964 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Jean Ann Jones. He graduated from high school in 1982 and immediately joined the United States Army to serve his country.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Deborah McCallum. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Robert McCallum; nephew, Matthew McCallum; niece, Calli McCallum (Jessica); his many caregivers through the years; and his extended family at Medicalodge of Fort Scott where he had lived for many years.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Schneider Funeral Home & Cremations, Pleasanton Chapel. Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.schneiderfunerals.com.

Obituary - Marie Buck


 It was the wishes of Marie Buck of Adrian, Missouri to be cremated with no public services at this time. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.  Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Rose Marie Buck, age 87 of Adrian, Missouri died Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Baptist Home of Adrian. She was born November 21, 1937 to Arthur William and Jessie May Thomas Speaks in Miami County, Kansas.

Marie is survived four granddaughters, Angie Olson and husband Heath, Mandie Buck, Jessica Lauden and Kendall Solis; a great-granddaughter, Alicen Owens; a son, William Jeffery Buck; and two special nieces, Lisa DeHoff and Stephanie DeHoff-Sanders.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Landis.

Hunter Kelso takes first place in Senior Welding Competition

Congratulations to Hunter Kelso as he recently won First Place at the Midwest Technical Institute's High School Senior Welding Competition. 

He earned a $5000 scholarship to MTI as well as $1000 check to NRTC Welding for his outstanding performance.

Butler FCCLA competes at State Leadership Conference

 Butler FCCLA competed at the State Leadership Conference over the last two days and had a lot of success.

FCCLA Show-Me skills events:
--Makenzie Algiere placed 3rd in state in Cake Decorating- bronze rating
--Abbagail Vunovich placed in the top 5 at State with Toys that Teach receiving a silver rating
FCCLA Star Event:
-Breanna Werner placed in the top 15 with a Bronze rating for Repurpose and Redesign.
