Notice from the City of Butler

  

All residents south of the Butler Waste Water Treatment Plant located at 500 NE St. Rt. 52. There is a possible contamination of water in the mound branch. This does NOT affect the drinking water. Crews are actively working on the situation. Once again, this does not affect the drinking water.

Thank you Rotarian Joanne Godfrey for bringing your Mother, Shirley Oerke on Wednesday to give a wonderful program about a foreign exchange student. Shirley and her husband Marvin hosted a foreign exchange student from Western Australia in 1975. The student was Glenda Carlshausen. They developed a wonderful friendship and traveled several times to Australia to visit. Thanks Shirley.

Obituary - Barbara Elizabeth Hobson

Graveside service and interment will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, Missouri.  Visitation prior to services 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Schowengerdt Chapel.  Contributions to Happy Hill Church of  God or Alzheimer’s Association.  Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Barbara Elizabeth Hobson, age 82 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Carnegie Village in Belton, Missouri.  She was born June 15, 1942 to Russell Gaines Finch and Elizabeth Irene Geraughty Finch in Independence, Missouri.

Barbara is survived by four children, David Hobson and wife Jeanette of Cave City, Arkansas, Cynda Hutcheson and husband Danny of Freeman, Missouri, Lynell McGuire and husband Shannon of Butler, Missouri and Ethan Hobson and wife Amy of Oronogo, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jesse McGuire, Jacob McGuire, Nathan McGuire, Joshua Hobson and Alex Hobson; two great-grandchildren, Bayleigh and Avery; and one great-grandchild on the way.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Terry; and a sister, Melba Hardin.

CPR/AED class offered at BCMH later this month

 


Bates County Memorial Hospital is hosting an American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver® CPR/AED class on Tuesday, April 29, from 5:30–9:30 PM.

Several arrested in Cass county sex offender sting

 


As mentioned earlier, several people were arrested in Operation 2 Highway

35-year-old Wesley Leck of Harrisonville had two active Cass County warrants — one for driving with a revoked or suspended license and another for expired driver’s license plates.
37-year-old Geoffrey Davis of Harrisonville has been charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, which is a Class D Felony.
Davis’ bond is set at $50,000 cash only.
63-year-old Walter Sidney of Harrisonville has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, which is a Class B Felony.
His bond is set at $100,000 cash only.
