Some Butler housing history

House at 105 N High

This historic home was built in 1900. In the 1930s and 1940s, C.A. and Nellie Bolin lived here. After Mr. Bolin's death, Nell married A. L. Zwahlen, and they continued to live in the home. Mr. Zwahlen passed away at his home in 1968. In about 1980, Elmer and Ruth Shubert purchased the house from Nell.

After Ruth Shubert died at 101, her great-granddaughter, Julia Nissen Barber, and her spouse, Lee Barber, purchased the house when they married in 2003.

The below picture depicts weather conditions on May 5, 1907, written in the attic by G. E. Cable. His spouse was Laura DeWeese Cable from Pleasant Gap.

At one time, the home was divided into five sections with five doors leading to the outside. The lovely Victorian details of this home have been preserved by the current owners, Lee and Julia Barber.
