One arrested following burglary in St. Clair county
On May 28, 2025 around 9:31 a.m., the St Clair County Sheriff and deputies responded to a burglary in progress near WW and 82 Highway. The caller stated his juvenile daughter was hiding inside the residence with an unknown person standing in the kitchen. The caller stated a friend was also responding to the residence. While enroute, dispatch notified deputies that shots had been fired.
Upon arrival, a male with a firearm and a female were outside the residence. The male was identified as the “friend” and the female suspect was immediately detained. The investigation at the scene showed the suspect had unlawfully entered the residence and was stealing several items when the friend arrived. During this interaction, two shots were fired into the ground as a warning, when the suspect threatened to use violence. No one was injured in this event. The suspect was arrested for 1st Degree Burglary and transported to the St Clair County Jail.
The Sheriff commends the juvenile for her quick thinking and remaining calm during this event. Even though the Sheriff’s Office response took less than 3 minutes, the interaction of the friend coming to the aid of the juvenile, may have prevented loss of life or injury. The Sheriff wishes to thank all involved for making this a positive outcome.
On May 29, 2025 the St Clair County Court issued a warrant on Jessica Thomas for 1st Degree Burglary with a $25,000.00 cash only bond.
