Geomagnetic storm could make northern lights visible in our region again

The above photo was taken in Bates county on May 10th, 2024 and we could see an encore presentation starting tomorrow, possibly running through Tuesday.

According to an alert issued by the Space Weather Prediction Center, those as far south as Alabama may be able to view the spectacular light show after the sun released a powerful coronal mass ejection on Friday evening, May 30.

The alert issued was a G4 (Severe) Geomagnetic Storm Watch with the highest level of impact happening over the next 24 hours, which  could affect some wireless communications.

Long time sign getting a new lease on life

Many months ago, our highway billboard, near TT overpass on I-49, almost was abandoned and doomed for destruction.

We rescued it, and TODAY, it once again, is “standing tall” after one of our local businesses jumped in to help us out, and rebuild it.
The importance of this sign to our community (with 100,000 vehicles passing by it on a regular basis) is invaluable. The new face will be coming in the next few weeks, and ONCE AGAIN, travelers from all over will be “welcomed” to Rich Hill.
Thank you Koehn Building Systems for this work!
