Miami County Sheriff's Office makes arrest using high tech device
Over the weekend, while on routine patrol, a Deputy received an alert from the Axon in-car camera system’s license plate reader, indicating that the registered owner of a vehicle had an outstanding warrant.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed illegal narcotics, including methamphetamine, crack cocaine, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana. Drug paraphernalia and a large quantity of currency were also located.
The individual was taken into custody, and charges are pending. The investigation remains ongoing.
BCMH pitches in with Rich Hill 4th celebration
Our EMS team was on site to provide standby medical coverage for the Rich Hill 4th of July celebration, July 2-5. From the baby contest to the Saturday night concert, our crew stayed on site to help keep everyone safe, along with the Rich Hill Fire Department and the Bates County Sheriff's Department. Our team enjoyed their short-term change of scenery in the outdoors - in spite of the heat - and connecting with the community.
Over the course of the event, our team responded to two calls for dehydration and three for traumatic injuries, two of which required transport by LifeFlight Eagle. We were also happy to bring out our BCMH misting tent to help beat the heat. Thank you to the City of Rich Hill for providing the water!

Did You Know?
When our EMS team attends nonprofit community events like this, they’re on paid standby, supported by the hospital, not the city or event planners. If an emergency call comes in elsewhere in the county, the team may be called away to respond.
For for-profit events that require dedicated EMS coverage, we offer that service through a separate agreement and work to schedule an additional crew.
