July 28, 2025 The Bates County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Jim Wheatley and Southern Commissioner Trent Nelson present. Northern Commissioner John Gray was absent.
Obituary - Bob True Beisly
Bob True Beisly, II, 70, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS following a lengthy illness. Bob was born June 20, 1955 in Nevada to Bob T. and Betty Jo (Brock) Beisly. He married Dawn Woods on December 12, 2013 and she survives of the home.
Bob, a lifelong resident of Vernon County, graduated from Rich Hill High School Class of 1974. Throughout his life he farmed and raised cattle. In addition, Bob owned and operated Beisly Oil Company in Nevada from 2000-2007.
In addition to his wife Dawn, he is survived by his children: Bobby Beisly, True Beisly (Nicole), Bradyn Woods (Taylor), and Bradly Woods (Kaeth), all of Nevada; one grandchild, Trevor Hunholz; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lynne Michelle (Brad), Nevada, Jo Hoover (Brandt), Florida, and Toni Williams (Kevin), Springfield, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Scotty Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Obituary - Wade Keeney
Wade Allen Keeney was born January 26, 1973 in Harrisonville, Missouri to Wayne and Carol Sue Lawrence Keeney.
Wade was able to showcase his many talents over the years by working at Mahaffie Farms, the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, and the Shoal Creek Historical Reenactments, and so many more.
Wade was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Keeney, sister Stacey K. Sharp and both his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his mother Carol Sue Keeney of Cleveland, MO., sister Shelly Burton of Cleveland, MO., along with his aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces, and extended family members.
