Donut fundraiser nets just over 2 grand

Last week, Hurts Donut of Springfield, Mo. held a special fundraiser for Butler student Eli Ferrell to help offset medical expenses following severe injuries he sustained in an auto accident last month.

As he continues his recovery, his mother Savannah provided this recent update via Facebook:

"Today has been a BUSY one with lots of assessments! Eli was able to transition from the bed to a chair, and then from the chair to the toilet — such a huge step forward! He even got a real shower today and has been working so hard. Tomorrow we’ll finally get to learn more about the overall game plan and timeline moving forward. Feeling so grateful for every little victory along the way! Peep the real clothes also "

A sincere thank-you goes to all who participated in the donut fundraiser which netted a total of $2,041.90.

In addition, Gabbie Charmichael, Lyla Eldred, and Ashlynn Hannah scored personal bests. The Lady Bears were led by Juniors Gabbie Charmichael and Ashlynn Hannah with a 49 and 52 respectively. Lyla shot a 60. Gabbie Charmichael also had her first birdie on Hole #7 with a bomb of a drive, a nice approach shot, and a chip in for a 3! Congratulations!!

Overall results: Versailles - 1st Place, Adrian - 2nd Place, Butler - 3rd Place. Also noteworthy, Versailles golfer Keanna Mims broke their school record shooting a 38 and winning the Tri. Adrian's Kennedy Bridges logged an albatross on #9, a very impressive 2 on a par 5! Congratulations to those young ladies. It was a great night at the Butler Country Club!
