Obituary - Mary Belle Marten

We are sad to announce the passing of Mary Belle Marten of Garden City MO. Mary was born in Kansas City MO on July 20, 1973, and left this earth on October 6, 2025.

Mary lived to be 52 years of age, touching the lives of many and leaving behind countless memories that will live on for years to come.

Mary was a sweet soul who filled our lives with her giving nature. She had a natural passion for helping others and it showed in so many ways, whether caring for her mom (and they were quite the pair), sharing her love of photography, spending time with her family and caring for her and others’ pets. Her favorite title was “aunt”, and she adored spending time with her nieces, Peyton and Katy. Mary may no longer be with us, but her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

Mary is survived by her mother Linda Marten and her sisters, Tammy Marten and Christy Guess of Garden City MO; and her nieces Peyton Guess and Katy Ederer of Peculiar MO.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Wayside Waifs sent in care of Dickey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 432, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

There will be a private inurnment in San Diego, California at a later date.  Arrangements under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.  Online condolences www.schowengerdtchapel.com.

Martha Elizabeth Bauman, age 91 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, October 4, 2025 at home.  She was born January 30, 1934 to Marion and Elizabeth Youtsey Kelly in San Diego, California.

Martha, one of two children, grew up in San Diego, California, graduating from Hoover high school in 1952.  She married Ralph Bauman in 1952 and to this union, two children were born.  She worked as a clerk at various retail stores and on Miramar Naval Base before moving to San Juan Islands, Washington, then to Clute, Texas.  After 20 years in Clute, Martha made her way to Butler, Missouri where she spent the rest of her years.  She lived with her daughter and son-in-law for the last three years at her home.

Martha was a spirited lady who enjoyed throwing parties and entertaining her family.  When not hosting, she relaxed to the sounds of the surf while fishing off Point Loma in San Diego.  After moving from the ocean area, Martha found solace by losing herself in the story of a good book.  As a self-employed person, regardless of how busy she was, Martha always made sure that her family felt protected and loved.  She will be fondly remembered and even though she will be missed, those that knew her will find comfort knowing that her soul was set free.

Martha is survived by one daughter, Pamala Meade and husband Patrick Culp of Butler, Missouri; one son, John Bauman and wife Lynnette of Lake Jackson, Texas; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Patricia Harding of San Diego, California.  Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Bauman; and grandson, Michael Meade.
