Obituary - Rebecca Sue Cameron

Rebecca Sue Cameron, 76, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Per her wishes, no services are scheduled.

Becky, as she was affectionately known, was born on May 5, 1949, in Kansas City, MO, to Joseph A. and LaVerne (Allen) Shepherd. A lifelong resident of Harrisonville, Becky found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Cameron on August 19, 1972, in Harrisonville. Together, they created a loving home, raising two wonderful children, Lynn and Justin, who carry forward their parents' spirit of compassion and strength.

Becky was a devoted Registered Nurse, dedicating many years of her career to caring for patients in the operating rooms at Belton Research Medical Center. Her passion for healing extended beyond the hospital doors, as she continued her commitment to care at Heartland Spine and Specialty Hospital in Leawood, Kansas, even after her retirement.

Throughout her life, Becky and Bob cherished their time spent at their cabin in Colorado, where they created countless memories surrounded by nature's beauty. These memories will forever be treasured by her family and friends.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Bob, who passed away on June 9, 2023. She is survived by her son, Justin (Cassie) Cameron, and daughter, Lynn (Jason Brigham) Gaines, both of Harrisonville, MO; her sister, Cindy Lees, of Belton, MO; three grandchildren: Morgan Cameron, Devin Cameron, and Will Gaines, all of Harrisonville, MO, who will carry her spirit in their hearts; and many other relatives and friends.

Warm and dry through the weekend

Until the rain chances Monday, which are  still uncertain for me, the next noticeable weather feature is slightly elevated fire danger again Saturday.

It's warm and windy Saturday afternoon with a slight dip in relative humidity.

Northern lights to be more visible tonight

Yes, there is a strong chance to see the aurora borealis tonight, November 12, 2025, in many parts of the northern US, including our area. The best viewing times are typically between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., though activity may be visible as early as 6 p.m. Look for areas with little to no light pollution and face north for the best visibility.

When and where to look: Between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time, but activity may begin as early as 6 p.m..
Best direction: Look to the northern horizon.
Best location: Get as far away from city lights as possible to avoid light pollution.

What to expect: The aurora is most likely to be visible in darker, more rural areas. The peak activity is expected in the hours before and after midnight. There's a slight chance of isolated minor substorms and favorable conditions for major aurora activity.
