A special thanks due

A special thank you to our local citizens, Russell and Nora Bowman, who joined Harrisonville VIPS in placing flags around the Harrisonville Square in honor of Memorial Day. Your willingness to serve and help recognize the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes reflects the true spirit of our community.
We especially want to recognize young Nora, who shared with VIPS the symbolism behind the flag presentation and reminded us all of the meaning and respect carried in this tradition.
Harrisonville VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service) is a dedicated group of community volunteers who assist the Harrisonville Police Department through service projects, community support, and public safety efforts throughout the year.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this Memorial Day tribute possible.

Obituary - Sharon Kay Pritchett

We are celebrating the wonderful life of Sharon Kay Pritchett. Born on March 29,1945, in Fort Scott, Kansas, and raised in Bronaugh, Missouri, preceded in death by her parents, George Saatoff and Nancy Garrett, and her son, Ricky Pritchett. Sharon grew up surrounded by family and love. She is survived by her brother, Albert Saathoff.

Sharon’s life was marked by love, dedication, and meaningful milestones — including her marriage to Cecil Pritchett on May 2, 1961, and her role as a devoted mother to Ricky Pritchett, David Pritchett, Kathy Scott, and Rex Pritchett. She was a proud grandmother to Eric DeWolf, Jennifer (Brian) Heneger, and Amber Pritchett, and a loving great-grandmother to Leila, Evie, Nina, Ary, AJ, and Nori Hussaini and Quentin DeWolf, as well as to(William) and (Teagan) Henegar. Sharon also shared 30 meaningful years with Charles Addleman, a companion who brought warmth and companionship to her life.

Sharon built a long and meaningful career at Hallmark, where she retired after 38 years of dedicated service. Her retirement was well earned and joyfully embraced, marking a beautiful chapter in a life filled with hard work, family, and quiet strength.

Sharon was born the daughter of the summer night and lived to travel, taking summer vacations to many interesting places. Her favorite destination was Las Vegas, but her first — and most exotic — adventure came at age 16. With a fearless spirit and a teenager’s determination, she slipped out of her parents’ house, took money from her savings, and bought a bus ticket to Fort Knox, Kentucky. Fort Knox was never the same after that beautiful 16-year-old stepped off the bus. Her daring adventures and love for exploration inspired everyone who knew her. Even in her final moments, Sharon’s spirit remained unshakably her own. When the doctor asked her to respond by holding up her thumb, she raised her middle finger instead — a final, unforgettable reminder of her humor, grit, and fire.

Rain in the forecast the next few days

Here's the situation: A shortwave disturbance is rippling up over the area from the southwest. This began with cloud cover moving in last night, and will keep scattered showers in the forecast the next several days as the disturbance moves over the area and then out. Here's current radar with some light scattered showers, and I think these will slowly increase to scattered showers & thunderstorms this afternoon when instability is the greatest. Severe weather isn't in the cards with this round but a few rumbles of thunder etc. here and there shouldn't surprise you. The greatest chances of widespread rainfall are Friday daytime, and Saturday daytime. I think showers will move on out Sunday afternoon. Upper-level ridging moves in behind this disturbance, making next week look warm and dry again to start. -Greg@660weather
