Back to school soon; tax free weekend coming up

Area schools are geared up for the new year with start dates in just a few weeks- here is the schedule:

Obituary - Zeke Cummings

Funeral services for Zeke Cummings will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Reed officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Benjamin Cemetery, Amoret, Missouri. Contributions to Benjamin Cemetery.

Zeke R. Cummings, age 29 of Amsterdam, Missouri died Saturday, July 24, 2010. He was born June 15, 1981 to Michael Dean and Suzann Regin Urton Cummings in Butler, Missouri.


Zeke is survived by his parents, Micheal “Mike” Cummings and wife Donna of Amsterdam, Missouri; one brother, Micheal Dean Cummings II of Butler, Missouri; one sister, Destiny Nadine Fletcher and husband Kent of Rich Hill, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Bill and Joan Urton of Grove, Oklahoma; uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

ASSAULT-Hume Bates County Deputies responded to Rt.1 Box 189 in reference to an assault. Upon arrival the victim Brent Bosh stated he was assaulted by the suspect Michael Grady. Charges pending upon Prosecutor's decision.

Obituary - Gertrude Edie Bolling

Gertrude Edie Bolling, 89 of Adrian, MO, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Adrian. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Adam Howell Cemetery, Bates County, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.
