Aviation Day enjoyable despite the weather

Cruddy weather once again hampered the annual Aviation Day held at the Butler Municipal Airport with overcast conditions and light rain- but as the day continued, the clouds lifted slightly, allowing for a few brave souls to take to the air. Those present enjoyed burgers and beans with a test run on a flight simulator and a chance to check out all types of aircraft:

The West Central Community Action Agency will be closing their doors on Sept. 30th. FM 92 will be interviewing Malia Mount from their Appleton City location as she will be providing information regarding the closing of the Butler location.

House fire in rural Amsterdam

10:55 p.m. - Amsterdam, Adrian and Butler fire units are responding to a house fire at the intersection of county roads 9002 and 9761 which is approximately 4 miles east of Amsterdam.

Initial reports are that the house is fully involved and that family members escaped unharmed. Watch for emergency vehicles if traveling through the area.

Butler R-V School Board meeting summary

The board swore in member Brad Davis to the board of directors.

Old Business: The Board heard a report from Superintendent Alan Stauffacher on progress on the track: About a week’s work of dirt work is needed before the district can seed the outside of the track. Teal’s Lawn and garden mowed the field and are placing markers down for putting in irrigation. The rubberized surface should be applied at the end of the month. The board voted to keep the overhead electrical lines they are now to save on electrical hook-up.
