Podcasts now available on Bates County Live!

We've talked about it and we finally did it- podcasts of sporting events and more are now available on Bates County Live.

Simply click the Podcasts link on our home page the select the program you would like to listen to. Depending how your media player is set up, either the program will begin playing when you click on it or you can download the file to put on your portable player (iPod, etc.) or computer desktop. If you have iTunes installed, you can use it to listen to the Podcasts, too.

We hope you enjoy the Podcasts- they will primarily be sporting events that are broadcast on FM 92 the Bullet.

Our first Podcast is available now, the Butler vs Sherwood football game played last night and many more will be added as we go into the Fall sports season.

QuickTime player works well to play the mp3 files. If you would like to install it for free, click here.

Friday morning around 8 a.m. two Drexel women were injured in a single car accident on A Highway about three miles West of Archie. An Eastbound 2000 Pontiac driven by Ashley Davis, 22, traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, returned to the right side of the roadway into a ditch and struck a culvert. Davis and a passenger, Mallory Mager, 19, were transported to Research Hospital in Kansas City with moderate injuries.

Last night around 10:20 p.m. two Rockville residents received minor injuries in an accident at the intersection of CR 230 and CR 1501 when the 1998 Isuzu driven by Thomas L. Evans, 54, of Rockville traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Passenger Sheila A. Prater, 43, also of Rockville was transported to Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City for treatment.

From the desk of Senator David Pearce

As we head further into the fall, there are a number of activities going on in the surrounding community to keep in mind. Previously, we have discussed safety tips for hunting, which is one of the biggest activities this time of year for citizens of all ages. But another event lurking around the corner with its candy bag open and waiting for treats is Halloween. As we prepare our children and ourselves for this fun-filled tradition, let’s try to make sure we make this a safe holiday for all our little costumed goblins.
