Adrian FBLA donates $750 to food pantry

Adrian R-3’s FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) student organization recently donated $750 with funds raised from last year to the Bates County Food Pantry to help them purchase food for those in need in Bates County. 

R-3 officers are Austin Pitts, Brendin White, Zachary Lewis, Caitlin Kimminau, Shelby Shannon, Rian Lewis and the FBLA advisor is Angela Lewis.

The Adrian FBLA has adopted this organization again for this school year and will be raising funds throughout the year to help feed those in need in.

Butler Homecoming October 5th

Parade line up and on the square to be announced. Selling mums as a fund raising activity. Game time 7 p.m. as the Butler Bears verse the Stockton Tigers on home turf! Game will be broadcast at 7 pm on FM-92. More details coming soon.


Butler area Ladies Ministries Chili Cookoff

Register now for the Chili Cook-Off to be held at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Butler , Saturday October 6th. Chili contestants will be voted on by a 50 cents vote. Chili , drink and pie for $5.00. Also homemade vegtable soup and hot dogs. Judging from 5 to 7 p.m. with winners announced at 6:45 p.m. Sponsored by the Butler Area Ladies' ministries of Butler.

Obituary - Fern Seeley

Graveside services for Fern Seeley will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, Missouri with Brother Bill Perkey officiating. There is no visitation. Contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Services under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler.

Ella Fern Seeley, age 94 of Rattan, Oklahoma, formerly of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Pushmataha County Hospital in Antlers, Oklahoma. She was born August 3, 1918 to William Emmer and Ina Mae Bailey Crumly in Amsterdam, Missouri.

Fern is survived by a daughter, Sue Sutherland and husband Richard of Rattan, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Joan Seeley-Taylor and husband Paul of Royce City, Texas; one sister, Joan Erhart of Butler, Missouri; five grandchildren, Rhonda Morehead of Ogden, Kansas, Teri Radford of Montrose, Missouri and Stacy Barton of Ratton, Oklahoma, Steve Seeley of Frisco, Texas and Ken Seeley of Allen, Texas; eight great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Seeley in 2005 and one son, Jack Seeley.

Horse in roadway causes accident near Amoret

Around 8:15 yesterday evening a horse in the roadway was struck by a 1999 Ford driven by Jason M. Chrisman, 33, of Amsterdam on 52 highway just west of county road 12001 in western Bates County. A passenger, Waylon C. Chrisman received minor injuries and was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Jason Chrisman was not injured, according to the MSHP report filed by Cpl. K.A. Schmutzler this morning. The vehicle received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Amoret woman injured in single car crash

Krista D. Bradley, 27, of Amoret received minor injuries in a single car accident last night around 8:50 p.m. According to the MSHP report, Bradley was eastbound on 52 highway just east of Amoret when her 1997 Mercury traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

Bradley was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Cpl. Pate of the Missouri Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Bates County Sheriff's Department and first responders from the Amoret fire department. The vehicle received minor damage and was driven from the scene.

Accident just east of Amoret

First responders are in route to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the east edge of Amoret on 52 highway. Injuries are being reported and Bates County EMS are also headed to the scene.
