Obituary - Mary E. Owen

Mary E. Owen, 75, of Urich, Missouri formerly of Peculiar, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, Missouri.

Mary is survived by two sons, Carl Owen and wife July, Fulton, Missouri, Marc Owen and wife Pattie, Osceola, Missouri; two daughters, Kendra Wood and husband Blane, Clinton, Missouri, Angie Perez and husband Alex, Liberty, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Craig, El Dorado, Springs, Missouri, Norma Handke, Butler, Missouri, Donna Gibson, Creighton, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City, Missouri with burial in the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, Missouri.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2016 at the funeral home.

Obituary - Neva H. Peak

 Neva H. Peak
Neva H. Peak, 71, Nevada, MO, passed from this life on October 26, 2016 at Nevada Nursing and Rehab in Nevada. Neva was born February 26, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas to Herbert and Gladys Patterson. She was united in marriage to Bill A. Peak in Kansas City, MO and he survives.

Neva has resided in Nevada since 1985. She was a homemaker who loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Neva enjoyed crafting and making blankets for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Nevada Assembly of God church.

In addition to her husband Bill, Sedalia, MO, she is survived by four sons, David Patterson, Belton, MO, Lee Patterson, Emporia, KS, Greg Barksdale and his wife Rachel, Nevada, Dean Barksdale and his wife Robin, Nevada; one daughter, Rhonda Barksdale, Stockton, MO; 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Heather Lambrecht and Rick, Nevada; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, KS. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home.

Tomorrow (10/29) from 10 am to 5 pm at DSWA parking lot on Ohio street in Butler: Brisket, pulled pork sandwiches and twisted tators with all proceeds for living expenses for Aimee Briner and Deann Craft as they both are fighting cancer. 

If anyone would like to drop off baked goods we would sell them also.

From the Bates County Sheriff's Office

The Bates County Sheriff's Office will be holding a CCW Class on November 5th at the Bates County Sheriff's Training building. The Class will be held from 8am to 5pm. 

Attendees shall provide one firearm with 40 rounds to qualify. If you have wanted to get your concealed carry license then we encourage you to register for this class. With the new statutes this may be the last free class offered by the Bates County Sheriff's Office.

Under the new statutes, unless prohibited by a county ordinance, city ordinance or one of the places that you are prohibited from carrying, you will not need a license. 

While the statute will allow law abiding citizens to care without a permit if you leave the state on vacation you will need a permit to carry and protect your family while outside the state.

The funeral service for Ronald will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Montrose, Missouri Saturday, November 5, 2016 11:00 a.m. 

Officiant will be Father Tom Hermes .

Visitation will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Montrose, Missouri Saturday, November 5, 2016. Visitation at 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. with the Rosary being said at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be at St. Ludger’s Cemetery, 
at Germantown, Missouri.

The family suggests any memorial donations be giving to St. Ludger’s Cemetery or St. Mary’s School.

Breaking News: Strip mall fire in Harrisonville

The Harrisonville Fire Department along with several emergency personnel are currently on the scene of a fire at a strip mall in Harrisonville. 

The Dollar Tree Store located at 1902 Missouri 291 Highway appears to be fully engulfed at this time. Mid America Live News will continue to monitor this situation and we will update when more information becomes available to us.

Lily is survived by her parents, Adam and Rebecca Moore, three brothers, Ian Moore, Eli Moore, twin brother, Liam Moore, two sisters, Ada Moore and Mia Moore all of the home; paternal grandparents, Donney and Lena Moore, Belton, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Delores Jackson, Kansas City, Missouri.
