Updated Obituary - Doris Fay Swarens

Doris Fay Swarens
Doris Fay Swarens, 83, Raymore, MO, died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 30 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.

Doris was born February 3, 1934 in Wheatland, MO, the daughter of John and Emma (Brewster) Rawdon. She was a 1952 graduate of Raytown High School. Doris married Lewis Wayne Swarens on June 23, 1967 at the Ruskin Heights Lutheran Church. They moved to Freeman in 1972 and to Gravois Mills in 1985. She moved to Adrian, MO in 2003, moving to Foxwood Springs in 2014. Doris worked for Bendix as a secretary for 20 years, retiring in 1974.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lewis Wayne Swarens on November 30, 2001, and two daughters, Lou Ann Swarens and Sandra Kay Toland. She is survived by two daughters, Dawn Price and husband, Mike, Archie MO and Sandy Ferraccio and husband, Pat, San Bernardino, CA; three sisters, Peggy Lawrence, Monroe, NC, Vivian Boin and husband, Jerry, Independence, MO, and Beverly Karim and husband, Mo, Raytown, MO; 8 grandchildren, James Rusow, Justin Rusow, Jennifer Renee Jordan, Erin Hainline, Randy Breshears, Toby Toland, Amie Mize, and Elizabeth Coward, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Iowa man arrested in Bates County

On 10/28/17 around 7:47pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 49 year old Duane L. Couchman of Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Couchman was arrested for 1.)Felony Driving While Intoxicated.

He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler, Missouri and he was placed on a 12 hour detox hold.
