Structure Fire In Nevada

On 12/27/17 around 2:54pm the Nevada Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 309 W. Ash in Nevada.

Upon arrival to the scene light smoke was observed coming from the roof of the residence owned by Justin Duncan.

The Nevada Fire Department made entry into the house and was quickly able to find the source of the fire. Overhaul was completed on two room within the residence while checking for fire extension.

The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature in the attic of the home. No one was injured in this fire and estimated damages were $6,000.

Breaking News Update: Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Harrisonville

CASS CO. – Harrisonville, MO. On Saturday December 23, 2017 around 9:30 p.m. Cass County Deputies were called to the Jassi Mart at I-49 and 7 Hwy regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred. 

The clerk on duty reported that a heavy set female suspect wearing a mask had pointed a gun at him and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect then fled on foot after taking cash from the register.

Cass County Deputies assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Harrisonville Police Department responded to the area and conducted a search of the area for the suspect. A K9 team searched the area and tracked the suspect to the area of Brookhart and E. 275th, but did not locate anyone.
Investigators on Wednesday December 27, continued to follow up on information regarding the robbery. 

Detectives were able to identify two subjects of interest and took them into custody for questioning.

The Cass County Prosecutor’s Office charged Ashley V. Falco, 29, Harrisonville with First Degree Robbery. Her bond is set at $75,000.00 (10% Cash). Falco is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail. A second subject was released without charges.

Be on the lookout!! Stolen vehicle in Nevada

Nevada Police are asking for the communities assistance in reference to a stolen vehicle. On December 27th Nevada Police took a report that a 2002 Ford F-150 had been stolen from the 1200 block of North Olive St. 

The truck has several distinguishing features on it such as; fender flares, custom tail lights, after market wheels, and a lift kit. Attached are photos of the vehicle taken.

From the Barton County Sheriff's Office

On December 27th 2017, The Barton County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call of a 10 year of age male subject who had lacerated his arm and was being transported by private vehicle to the Barton County Memorial Hospital. 

Deputies with the Barton County Sheriff's Office arrived at the intersection of C and I-49 and met with the vehicle transporting the young man. 

Deputies assisted with First Aid on the child until Barton County ambulance medics arrived on scene to transport the child to the hospital. The Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation of the incident and found that the incident to be an accident. 

The child was trying to get a ball off of a tin roof, lost his balance and as he fell cut his arm on the metal roof. At this time no criminal charges for the incident are being are filed.




Arrest made in Eldorado Springs

On December 19, 2017, officers responded to the intersection of Joe Davis and Park Streets for a report of a larceny. The investigation revealed that forced entry was made into a US Postal vehicle and items of mail were stolen.

On December 20, 2017, officers assisted by agents of the US Postal Inspector Service, arrested Timothy A. Hocking, 31, of El Dorado Springs, charging him with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest. Officers completed a probable cause statement for these charges.

Officers received a Cedar County Warrant charging him with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest with a $1,500.00 bond. Hocking was transferred to the Cedar County Jail pending bond and a court appearance.

Additional charges are expected in this case.

House fire in Barton County

On December 27th 2017 the Barton County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call of a house fire on KK Highway. 

Deputies from the Barton County Sheriff's Office responded along with the Lamar fire department, Jasper fire department, and Barton County ambulance responded to the scene. 

The fire departments are still on scene of the fire. 

The fire was accidentally started by a space heater. Lamar firefighter Kevin Lee is pictured working to fight the fire.



Updated Obituary - DeAnn Craft

DeAnn Craft, 52 of Butler, Missouri passed away December 23, 2017 at her home near Butler. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Butler, Missouri with Pastors Rob Musick and Dr. Terry Davis officiating. 

Visitation will be Friday December 29th from 5-7 PM also at the First Christian Church. Cremation will follow services, and private family inurnment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler.
