Freezing Drizzle Possible Tuesday PM into Wednesday AM

Well that sun was nice today!

Unfortunately this winter won't give up :( Drizzle & Freezing Drizzle will start tomorrow afternoon with the freezing drizzle shifting south as temps drop overnight. The Wed morning commute could be affected with a glazing of ice on elevated surfaces, so please plan accordingly.

Obituary - Jasmin Pettibon

Jasmin Pettibon, 19, Nevada, MO passed away suddenly on Monday, February 18, 2019 in Nevada. Jasmin was born July 1, 1999 in Nevada, the daughter of James Dean and Angela L. (Morrell) Pettibon who were married on February 14, 1998.

Jasmin attended Nevada High School where she was active in the FFA and helped as a teacher’s aid. She was a social media geek who loved music, outdoors, nature and fishing.

Jasmin had a special love for family, friends, and animals. She enjoyed trying to fix things that were abandoned. She has a protective spirit, a heart of gold, and loved being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father on May 7, 2013. And is survived by her mother, Angela Pettibon, Richards; maternal grandmother, Marie Morrell, Nevada; maternal grandfather, Steve Morrell, Fulton, KS; brother, Michael Pettibon, Compton Junction; sisters Emily, and Mya Pettibon, Nevada; godmother, Catherine Cox, Nevada and godfather, Gary Heard, Jr.; aunts, uncles, extended family, and special friends.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Mike Lashley officiating. Jasmin will be laid to rest next to her father in Deerfield Cemetery at a later time. The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituary - April Joy Lambrecht

April Joy Lambrecht passed away in her home on February 20, 2019 at the age of 51.

April was born in Pueblo, Co on January 22 1968. She grew up in Omaha, Ne where she was adopted by Margie Katherine Senseny and Donald Lee Lambrecht.

She enjoyed playing softball and was a competent violinist in her youth. Her family moved to Nevada in the summer of 1982. April worked several jobs around Nevada after graduating NHS in the class of 1986, including Linda's Diner and 3M Nevada.

April is survived by her son Matthew Webb (Nevada, Mo), Daughter Nikkol Lambrecht (Joplin, Mo), granddaughter Serenity Ramsey(Moundville, Mo) grandson Phoenix Lambrecht, sisters Joni Jo Lambrecht-Deters (Centralia, Ks) Hazel Lear (Seneca, Ks), Sandy Bridges (New Underwood SD) Penny Lambrecht (Omaha, Ne) brothers Robert Lambrecht, Fred Lambrecht (Omaha, Ne) Mark Beiderwell, and Jimmy Lambrecht (California) several neices and nephews and her beloved dog JoCee of the home.

April was always quick to lighten the mood of any room will be dearly missed by all that met her.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Best Chance Recovery in c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Francie Scott Employee of the Month at Butler Medicalodge

Congratulations to Francie Scott for being named Employee of the Month at our Butler Medicalodge facility. Francie has been part of the Medicalodges family for 2 years. 

Her mantra is "It is better to give than to receive" and that is the reason she works at Medicalodges. Her love for the residents is her favorite thing about the job. 

Francie has been married for 44 years and has 2 children and 3 rambunctious grandsons. Life if good!

Francie reminds us that we all may be a resident someday and you should treat people the way you want to be treated.

Tips Needed in Cass County Homicide Case

Cass Co – One year ago investigators discovered the remains of 18-year-old Vernece A. Brown of Kansas City in a wooded area north of Harrisonville. The body was discovered by mushroom hunters in the area of S. Mopac Road and E. 235th Street on April 28, 2018.

The investigation revealed that Vernece Brown was a missing person reported to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. Ms. Brown was reported missing by family after leaving her home near 36th and Bales, on the night of February 14th, 2018. Investigators determined that the case is now a homicide and are asking for the public’s help.

“Detectives from our office and around the Kansas City area have put in countless hours investigating this case. At this point we need the public’s help to provide us with a tip or piece of information that can help solve this crime. This family deserves to know what happened to their daughter.” Said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

Detectives with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office are asking anyone who may have had contact with Vernece “Nece” Brown on the date of her disappearance, February 14, 2018, to contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS,www.KCcrimestoppers.com or free mobile app www.P3Tips.com .
