Dr. Ben Crary
Butler, MO—Bates County Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Ben Crary to its hospital staff. As an employee of BCMH, Dr. Crary will work as a Hospitalist, providing and managing the care and treatment of hospitalized patients.

As a medical student, Dr. Crary completed a clinic rotation at Bates County Memorial Hospital (BCMH). He and his wife, Whitney, have two young children. This summer, they moved to Butler.

“I am excited to practice in a rural community,” said Dr. Crary. “I always planned to come practice here in Butler.”

Dr. Crary enjoys spending time with his family, as well as outdoor activities like hiking, hunting and fishing.

Dr. Crary’s Education:

· D.O. – A.T. Still University – Kirksville, 2016

· Residency – University of Missouri – Columbia Medical Center (Family Medicine), 2016-2019

· Board Certified (2019) – American Board of Family Medicine (General)

Patients who are admitted to Bates County Memorial Hospital may see Dr. Crary, or a Hospitalist with St. Luke’s Health System.

Why Hospitalists?

In the past, doctors made rounds at the hospital then returned to their clinic to see patients there. The Hospitalist program at BCMH makes care more consistent and efficient for patients, staff and primary care providers. Hospitalists remain on-site from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week, which makes them more available to answer questions and explain treatment options to patients. If a problem develops during the evening or middle of the night, the Hospitalist team is available through the BCMH Telemedicine program. Hospitalists communicate details with the patient’s primary care provider to ensure a smooth transition in hospital-to-home care.

Dr. Crary will begin his Hospitalist role at BCMH starting November 4, 2019. For more information about Hospitalists at Bates County Memorial Hospital, visit www.bcmhospital.com.

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher graduates from FBI-LEEDA program

Vernon Country Sheriff Jason Mosher graduated from the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association program this month earning the “Trilogy Award”. This award is given to those who have completed the Supervisor Leadership program, the Command Leadership Program and the Executive Leadership program.

Each section was split into week-long programs held over the past few months allowing working members of law enforcement the ability to attend without being gone for long periods of time. Mosher said the training focused on police community relations, generational learning traits for employees and daily operations for leaders.

“This was some of the best training I have been to and hope to be able to send our other supervisors in the future”. Mosher said taking an in-depth look into the differences in the generation X, millennial's and generation Z was one of them most eye-opening portions of the training. “Looking at the different ways people learn, function and use technology from one generation to another is fascinating.” Mosher said class discussions on this subject gave him ideas when it comes to recruitment, team building and training employees at the Sheriff’s Office. Lt Travis Cole, the patrol unit supervisor, has also started the training and is expected to earn his Trilogy award in December.

A portion of his training has been paid for on a grant that was written and submitted by Mosher last summer. Instructors in the FBI-LEEDA program were retired FBI agents, Police Chiefs and Sheriff’s from some of the largest agencies in the country and included Louis Quijas, who was appointed in 2002 as an FBI Assistant Director, and in 2011 received a presidential appointment to the Office of Homeland Security as Assistant Secretary for the Office for State and Local Law Enforcement.
