Weather outlook for the next three days

Warm and windy today with some scattered rain showers possible this morning for eastern Kansas and western Missouri. 

Strong to severe storms will be possible Monday evening for northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. 

Severe storms will also be possible Tues afternoon/evening for much of eastern Kansas and the northwest half of Missouri.

Obituary - Charles Allen Sidebottom

Charles Allen Sidebottom, 75, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with military honors at 4:30 p.m.

Charles was born October 27, 1946 in Holden, MO, a son of Stanley Francis and Phyllis Nadine (Davis) Sidebottom. H was a U. S. Vietnam Army veteran. Charles was a lifelong resident of Cass County, MO. He worked for Kitty Clover Potato Chips, Solo Cup Company and Metcraft. He was a member of the Harrisonville VFW Post 4409.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Zachary Burton, and one nephew, Jordon Cashett. He is survived by one son, Mike Sidebottom, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Heather Burton, Harrisonville; one sister, Kim Hammontree, Hamilton, MO; 3 grandchildren, Leo Dalton Arthur, Eric Jacob Arthur and Mary Jeanne Arthur; one nephew, Trent Hammontree and one niece, Kaylan Cashett.

Obituary - Elda Leo Turner

Elda “Slim” Turner, 89, passed away at his home in Nevada, MO on Friday, May 27, 2022. Slim was born on November 23, 1932 in Stockton, MO to Elmer Lee and Sarah Francis (Fisher) Turner. He married Jimmy Ann Kanupp on January 8, 1996 in Las Vegan, NV and she preceded him in death on August 30, 2021.

Slim was raised in Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School Class of 1950. He served in the U. S. Air Force from February 6, 1953 to December 1, 1954 during the Korean War. Slim came back to Nevada and worked as a plumber at the Nevada State Hospital for 25 years until his retirement in 1978.

Survivors include his son, Terry Turner (Lorraine); his daughter, Brenda Kerr (Robert), Nevada; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Jimmy Ann, and his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Scott Turner; and four brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Megan Allen officiating. Interment with military honors will be in National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS at 12:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 9-10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Columbia man arrested in Bates County on three outstanding warrants

On May 28th around 11:23 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 55 year old Edward J. Williams of Columbia, Missouri.

Mr. Williams was arrested for the following failure to appear in court on felony charges out of the Boone County Missouri Sheriff's Office:

1.) Felony Boone County Sheriff's Office Warrant - Leaving the scene of an accident - Bond $1,000 cash/surety.

2.) Felony Boone County Sheriff's Office Warrant - 1st Degree Tampering with a motor vehicle - Bond $1,000 cash/surety.

3.) Felony Boone County Sheriff's Office Warrant - Stealing (value less then $150 and no prior stealing offenses) - Bond $1,500 cash/surety.

Mr. Williams was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently listed as bondable.
