Wanted Man Arrested After Foot Pursuit

A Nevada man is in custody after a foot pursuit took place Friday afternoon. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, Detectives were conducting a follow up in Nevada, MO when they observed an individual who had an active warrant for his arrest. 

The subject, who has been identified as 49-year-old David Allison of Nevada, MO, fled on foot as soon as Detectives contacted him near Lee and Osage streets.

Allison was chased by detectives for approximately two blocks before he was taken into custody. Mosher said no injuries were reported during the incident. 

Allison is being held in the Vernon County Jail with no bond on a Probation Violation warrant for the original charge of Resisting Arrest. Additional charges will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review from this incident.

Busy Friday afternoon for the Nevada Fire Department

Yesterday afternoon the Nevada Fire Department responded to two structure fires within 45 minutes of each other.

First fire was in the 300 Block of North Perkins was reported as a front porch on fire. Upon arrival fire crews found a small fire just starting on the front porch. A fast response was able to stop the spread and save the house.

At 1430 After just returning to quarters we were called to the 15000 blk of 1375 just north of city limits for an oven that exploded. E212 and Tanker 211 responded with a crew of 5 thanks to off duty personnel still at the station from the first fire. '

Upon arrival flames were showing from a 3 car attached garage. Crews went offensive and were able to knock the fire down containing it to the garage. Thanks to Compton, Milo, and Deerfield for the mutual aid!


















Obituary - Robert “Bob” Erwin Hendrickson

On January 19, 2023 Robert “Bob” Erwin Hendrickson, age 92, of Garden City, Missouri passed away peacefully with family at his side. Bob lived life with great enthusiasm and was recently under the attentive care of Monarch Hospice. 

A Funeral Service will be held at the McGilley and George Funeral Home 611 Chestnut in Belton on Friday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in the Belton Cemetery where Bob will be laid to rest next to Louise, his wife of 47 years.

On October 30, 1930 Bob was born on his parents’ (Perry Erwin and Julia Alice Hendrickson) farm near Peculiar, Missouri. Bob grew up loving the land. He also enjoyed football; he played high school football and was voted “most valuable player”. After graduating from Belton High School in 1948 Bob, along with his brothers Ivan and LeRoy, continued working the dairy farm and doing rowcrop farming. In 1954 Bob bought his first D4 bulldozer and started doing soil conservation work.

In 1966 he and his wife purchased a farm in Urich, Missouri. With the help of his younger brother LeRoy, Bob improved the farm with an impressive drainage and levee system. In addition to farming, Bob and LeRoy founded and ran Grand Valley Pipe Company. Bob’s passion for farming and supplying steel pipe continued throughout his entire life. Bob actively worked on his Urich farm until 2018. He continued to participate at the Urich farm doing what he loved into his early 90’s.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Francis Hook; and his wife Louise. He is survived by brothers Ivan Hendrickson of Peculiar, MO and LeRoy Hendrickson (Karla) of Peculiar, MO; stepson Duane Passeau (Joyce) of Peculiar, MO; grandson Derrick Passeau) Cassie and their children Raegan and Corbin) of Harrisonville, MO and granddaughter Jennifer Gingrich (Guy and children Erik and Ryan) of Peculiar, MO. Bob will be dearly missed by family, friends and numerous acquaintances.

Funeral Services will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.

The Minister will be Pastor James Damon

Interment will take place at Harmony Baptist Cemetery in rural Appleton City, Missouri, immediately following the funeral service

Memorial donations came be made to the American Cancer Society or Harmony Baptist Cemetery

Eric Herbert Williamson was born on May 12, 1973, the son of Dennis Ray Williamson and Imogene Rebeccah Philpot. He passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, aged 49. Eric grew up in the Rockville area and attended Appleton City High School. He worked as a plumber, mechanic, and jack-of-all trades throughout his life.

His family was the most important thing in his life. He dearly enjoyed bow hunting for deer and fishing for crappie. Eric was well loved by his nieces and nephews, who he spent many happy hours with.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents: Harvey and Sylvia Williamson; and Herbert and Marie Philpot; along with two uncles: Bill Williamson and Eddie Reed.

He is survived by his parents: Dennis Williamson and Imogene Philpot; one daughter, Vannesa Stafford; and a grandson, Cole Harris; three sisters: Charlotte Presley, Rebeccah Murray, and Elizabeth Serrano-Johns; 3 nieces and nephews: Oliver Murray, Colin Presley, and Willow Johns; along with many extended family and good friends, who will miss him dearly.

Deepwater man injured in Johnson County crash

On January 27th around 8:49 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Johnson County along with Johnson County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 13 Highway at CR 21 in rural Johnson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the northbound 2005 Dodge Ram driven by 62 year old Mark R. Steelman of Deepwater, Missouri crossed the centerline of traffic and struck the southbound 2014 Hyundai driven by 32 year old Elaina R. Fox of Warrensburg, Missouri.

Both Steelman and Fox sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both of them were transported by ambulance to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg for treatment.

Two from Clinton seriously injured after being struck by drunk driver in Pettis County

On January 28th around 2:08 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Pettis County along with Pettis County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri 52 West and B Highway in rural Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the westbound 2012 GMC Truck driven by 21 year old Carsen S. Gerke of Windsor, Missouri traveled into the opposing lane of traffic and struck the eastbound 1993 Ford Truck driven by 42 year old Thomas S. West of Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. West along with a passenger in his vehicle 28 year old Trisha L. Swindler of Clinton, Missouri both sustained serious injuries and both were transported to separate hospitals for treatment.

Carsen S. Gerke sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. Mr. Gerke was charged with the following charges after this accident.

1.) Felony Driving While Intoxicated - Resulting in serious injuries
2.) Lane Violation

He was cited with tickets and released.
