Running results in $50k cash only bond

On June 30th at approximately 1:15 p.m., deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were advised of a vehicle pursuit involving the Missouri State Highway Patrol heading southbound on I-49 near Peculiar.
A deputy joined the pursuit near Cantrell Rd. in Harrisonville.
The pursuit continued and eventually went northbound to Belton where deputies assisted MSHP in taking the subject into custody at a dead end near Oakland Ave. and 165th St.
She’s been identified as 26-year-old Tiffany McCurdy of Kansas City.
McCurdy has been charged with Aggravated Fleeing a Stop or Detention (D Felony).
She’s currently at the Cass County jail with a $50,000 cash only bond.

Reminder from the City of Butler regarding fireworks

Ord 11-134B
No person shall ignite, discharge, explode or set off any fireworks within the City limits on any days of the year other than the 3rd and 4th of July without written consent and approval of the Mayor and Special Event Committee. Hours for discharging fireworks on the 3rd of July will be limited to 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. unless it falls on Sunday which discharging would be from Noon to 10:00 p.m.

Rich Hill graduates headed to Boy's and Girl's State in St. Charles, MO


Congratulations to Mark Arnold and Abi Reed, members of the Rich Hill Class of 2027, on being selected to attend Missouri Boys State and Missouri Girls State at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri!
Mark and Abi were proudly sponsored by our local American Legion, giving them the opportunity to participate in this prestigious leadership program. Throughout the week, they joined outstanding students from across Missouri to learn about government, leadership, citizenship, and public service through hands-on experiences.

Minutes from Bates County Commission meetings

June 22, 2026 The Bates County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Jim Wheatley, Northern Commissioner John Gray and Southern Commissioner Trent Nelson present.
John made a motion to send their attorney the tax surplus amount on a house that was sold here in Bates County. Trent seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion carried. No opposition.

June 24, 2026 The Bates County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Jim Wheatley, Northern Commissioner John Gray and Southern Commissioner Trent Nelson present.
Was out of Office for the First Responder Appreciation Lunch from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
John made a motion pledging their support to KBRPC’s submission to the USDA Rural Business Development Grant Program for the project entitled “KBRPC Regional Community Development Plan.” Trent seconded the motion. All were in favor. Motion carried. No opposition.

June 29, 2026 The Bates County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Jim Wheatley, Northern Commissioner John Gray and Southern Commissioner Trent Nelson present.
John Sullivan, on behalf of his grandfather, came in and quickly discussed 2 variances in the current zoning ordinance. The Commission informed them on some of the zoning regulations and sent him on his way to speak to the City.
The Commission has kept a copy of the Variance Proposal.
