Update on Vernon County Car Theft Sting
Vernon County sheriff's officers Friday completed an investigation into the thefts of three vehicles with the arrest of a Nevada man on felony charges alleging vehicle tampering. Sheriff Jason Mosher says the thefts of a Chevy Suburban and a 1996 Buick Regal were reported this past Tuesday and Wednesday and deputy John Randall found evidence that led him to believe the thefts were connected to the theft of an older-model Buick. The sheriff's department learned that someone was trying to sell three vehicles and set up an undercover "sting" operation on the parking lot of the Hardee's restaurant in Nevada. Sheriff Mosher says his department's informant wore a wire, the transaction was recorded and the 44-year-old suspect was arrested after received marked cash about 10:30 a.m. Friday. The sheriff identified the suspect as Johnnie Lee Ryan, 421 W. Arch, Nevada, and Ryan was booked at the Vernon County jail on three class C felony counts. His bond was set at $25,000.00 cash-only.

Storms Possible for Holiday Weekend
Your holiday weekend won't be a rain-out, but we will be dodging thunderstorms each day. In typical late May fashion, we'll have persistent nighttime thunderstorms across the region which will slowly dissipate each morning. The good news is that once the rain dissipates, the remainder of the daytime hours will be partly sunny and warm before storms redevelop in the evening and nighttime hours.
Memorial day looks to be a repeat of today with morning thunderstorms dissipating to sunny skies and temperatures in the 80s.
