Downed Limbs all over Butler

Butler Public Works  Crews along with Butler Police is working hard to remove trees from roadways in town. The Police is blocking Broadway and Oak Streets in Butler due to downed trees .Please use caution if you have be out traveling this evening. Bates County Live will update with storm pictures tomorrow.

Update: Fire in Amsterdam

The fire that was behind the bank in Amsterdam was a false alarm and no fire was found. Amsterdam Fire has returned to quarters. No more information available.

Update: Tree fire at Oak Hill

After driving thru the Cemetery The Butler Fire Chief found the tree that was on fire but it had burned it's self out and it was leaning against a line. Osage Valley is being contacted right now. No more information is available.

Tree fire in Oak Hill Cemetery

Butler Fire is in route to a tree fire at Oak Hill Cemetery. There is a tree on fire and it is lening up against a powerline. Bates County Live will update this story when more information is available.

Fire in Amsterdam


Bates County Sheriffs Department along with Amsterdam Fire is in route to a reported fire north of the bank in Amsterdam it's uknown what is on fire at this time. Bates County Live will keep you updated when more information becomes available.

Obituary - Doana LaVaun Hook‏

Funeral services for Doana L. Hook will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 1, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Drexel, with Pastor Steven Donnelly officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8:00 PM Friday, May 31, 2013 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (816-657-4400). Burial to follow service at Sharon Cemetery, Drexel, Missouri. Doana LaVaun (Moore) Hook, 56, passed away on May 28, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center. Doana was born October 17, 1956 in Paola, Kansas to Dale and Dora (Morris) Moore. She was one of five girls. Doana was preceded in death by parents Dale and Dora Moore, sister Donna Elliot, sister Dianne Wooters, and nephew PFC Jason Michael Chafin. Survivors include her devoted husband of 38 years, Jim Hook; son Joshua Hook and wife Angela, son Jeremy Hook and wife Amber; grandchildren Nevaha Marie Hook, Cole Alan Hook, and Quintin James Hook; sisters Dana Murphy and Doreen Campain; and many other loved ones. Doana enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, watching the birds, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandbabies. Doana was a valued member of the Harlan C. Parker State Farm Insurance Agency, where she helped the agency team achieve National Recognition on a yearly basis. Doana never met a stranger. Clients always loved working with her, and she was a favored team member to numerous clients. Everyone will deeply miss her laughter, energy, and passion for life. Doana leaves her family and friends with many wonderful memories to cherish. Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association
