Body of missing teen found in rain-swollen creek


Missouri State Highway Patrol Announced a few hours ago that they have found the body of a 18 year old man who drowned in Big Creek Sunday East of Harrisonville. Brian VanMeter was a 2013 Graduate of Kingsville High School. Search crews  have been searching since Monday the water and shorelines near Southwest 1871 Road and Southwest 800 in La Tour, located about 10 miles east of Harrisonville. The body was found Friday  around 12 noon just downstream from wear the man went missing from.




















HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE Body Found in Grand River Identified as Justin Michael Emmerton, Kingsville


Shortly before noon on Friday, June 7, investigators with the Rural Missouri Major Case Squad made notification to the next-of-kin of the man found in Grand River near Urich on Wednesday evening, June 5. The victim has been identified as Justin Michael Emmerton, age 29, of rural Kingsville, Missouri. Identification was made by a fingerprint match through the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory on Thursday, June 6. 

Emmerton’s autospy is scheduled to be completed late this afternoon at the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office, which should provide more information for investigators to follow up on over the next several days.

Obituary - Clara Mae Cumpton

 Funeral services for Clara Mae Cumpton will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Rev. Chad Cooper officiating. There is no visitation. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Alzheimer's Association or Heartland Hospice.

Clara Mae Cumpton, age 90 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, June 6, 2013 at her home in Butler. She was born August 2, 1922 to Lewis Fredrick and Ida Elizabeth Bartz Gench in Bates County, Missouri.

Clara Mae is survived by two daughters, Charmaine Ketron and Karen Cooper, both of Butler, Missouri; four grandchildren, Steve Ketron and wife Leisa and Stacy Geritz and Bo all of Butler, Missouri, Scott Cooper and wife Lisa of Kearney, Missouri and Chad Cooper and wife Kristin of Holt, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Taylor and Chelsey Ketron, Skyla and Brody Geritz, and Brogan, Max, Samara and Kerian Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur; one brother, Bill Ginch; and one sister, Ola Shook.

BCYAC POOL PALS PROGRAM

The Bates County Youth Advocacy is collecting money for The Pool Pals Program. The program provides pool passes for children in the community. Last year they bought 76 passes to give to children and this year as of May 31 they have bought 31 passes. Come on let’s donate to the BCYAC Pool Pals Program and get those kids their pool passes! NEWS RELEASE: Bring your ideas to an informational meeting at Harry S Truman State Park on June 15‏

 The public is invited to bring their ideas to an informational meeting on Saturday, June 15 at Harry S Truman State Park near Warsaw. The informational meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the campground amphitheater.
Recent accomplishments at the park and future plans will be highlighted during the informational meeting. Visitors are invited to share comments on the park’s services and operations, as well as discuss services they would like to see added to the park.
This informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by Missouri State Parks to ensure citizens have input on facilities and services offered in state parks and historic sites. People requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting can make arrangements by calling the park directly at 660-438-7711.
This public meeting is also a great opportunity to log miles as a part of the Governor’s 100 Missouri Miles challenge. 
To celebrate Missouri’s distinction as the “Best Trails State” by American Trails and to encourage Missourians to enjoy the outdoors, Governor Jay Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon are inviting Missourians to join them in completing 100 Missouri Miles of outdoor physical activity by the end of the year.

Saturday June 8th Nevada Speedway will be hosting their first Modified special of the 2013 season! Last year Pea Ridge Arkansas Johnny Bone Jr. took home the feature event, but not without some tough drivers throughout the field.
