Bates County Sheriff's Office Press Release: Patrol Car Wrecks While In Pursuit


On 11/12/13 at approximately 8 pm the Bates County Sheriffs Office received a request for assistance from the Butler Police Department in reference to a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle was described as a mid-2000 blue Dodge truck. The truck had three occupants during the pursuit.

The vehicle pursuit started at High Street and Ft. Scott Street and left town on Nursery. The pursuit continued south on YY Highway until it turned to gravel. While responding to the pursuit on YY Highway one of the Bates County patrol vehicles topped a hill on YY Highway over corrected and left the roadway. The patrol vehicle overturned multiple times and came to rest in a fence row.

The Deputy was transported by ambulance to the Bates County Memorial Hospital where he remains for his injuries.
