Russell E. Romdall passed away peacefully on November 5, 2016. He was one of six children born to the union of Richard and Ruby (Wetzel) Romdall on June 11, 1938 on the farm in the Montrose area. He spent his formative years in this area, graduating from Montrose High School. He then moved to Independence, MO, where he worked for a few years at a grain elevator. Nevertheless, the majority of his working years were spent at Frank Paxton Lumber, where he was employed for 38 years, and then at Liberty Hardwoods for another 11 years. Russell most enjoyed working in the garden, always sharing his produce with friends and relatives. Apart from gardening, he dearly loved collecting many antiques, and freely offered his expertise in such matters to anyone who needed it. Russell also had a passion for guns and a vast collection of them. Making use of these guns, he was an avid hunter, regularly bagging trophy elk, deer, and wild boar. Anyone that knew Russell could readily testify to his encyclopedic knowledge of antiques, plants, and firearms. His gifts he regularly and freely offered to anyone that needed his help and understanding. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Roger Wayne Romdall of Montrose, MO and Harold Lee Park of Houston, TX; grandparents: Port and Bertha Romdall and Tom and Bertha Wetzel. Survivors include three sisters: Betty Cooper (Tom) of Eldorado Springs, MO, Linda James of Appleton City, MO, and Mary Jane Locke of Appleton City, MO; Nephews: Tony Lewellen (Paula) of Appleton City, MO and Rusty Locke (Kelly) of Butler, MO; along with many other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
