Forensic Photography & Genealogy Workshop

The Bates County Museum will present a workshop on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:30 am in Robertson Hall. Chris Wimsatt, Family Researcher at the Museum, has coordinated an excellent presentation that will show how modern forensics is enabling families to learn about the old photos that have been handed down for generations.

Often obscured by the passage of time, these unknown family members can sometimes reveal themselves anew when a variety of techniques are adapted to identifying particulars about the photography process used during a given era.

Using materials published by experts in the field of forensic photography, Chris will share some of the key identifiers to search for when examining old photos. A PowerPoint presentation will be given along with discussions. Attendees are invited to bring a family photo they are curious about and would like to have examined.

Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend this free workshop. For further information please call the Museum. 660-679-0134.
