Heat Safety Tips to beat the heat and protect your family

Yes, it is summer and, it is KC and, that means heat! Today's heat will climb into that dangerous territory with temperatures in the mid 90s and heat index values in the 103-107 range. The NWS KC works closely with the KC Health Department and studies have shown that the first dangerous heat event of the season usually produces the most heat related illness. So, please take it easy if you need to be outside and, remain hydrated taking frequent breaks. If you have elderly friends and family be sure to check on them, as well as anyone who may be sick or suffer from respiratory illness as they are most susceptible to the dangerous heat. Be safe, don't be a statistic! Here are some helpful tips for beating the heat.
