The Adrian Fire Department is again hosting the annual 9/11 Memorial procession and observance program on Saturday, September 11. This event is to honor all active and past military, fire, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel. Markedly, the observance pays tribute to all fallen firefighters, police, medical responders and innocent victims of the September 11, 2001 tragedy.
The processional will begin rain or shine at 10:00 am on Clark street and advance past the Adrian Manor, proceed north to Main street and then east on Main. The procession will then head south on business 71 to the Adrian Optimist building for the ceremony, which is slated to start at 10:30.
This year's observance marks the ninth year for the program which grows larger each year as more participants and observers make their way to Adrian to pay tribute. As in the past, the Life Flight medical helicopter will do a fly over and land at the Optimist building, so on board personnel may attend the program.
Everyone is urged to come and view the processional from anywhere along the route, then come to the Optimist building for the program which will feature a video and selected speakers.
A special thanks to Chief Gary Dizney and the Adrian Fire Department for their continued commitment to this program and the community in general.
