Hume fair kicks off this week

Despite warm temps the 68th annual Hume Fair and rodeo officially gets underway starting with a ham and bean supper at the arena Tuesday night; while Legion Hall is expected to be stuffed with crafts, garden goodies, 4-H projects, arts, woodworking, baked goods, photography, scrap-booking and more on display all week for judging.

Princess candidates are Hannah Swickhamer, 10, daughter of Stacey and Lesa Swickhamer; Chelsey Finley, 11, daughter of Chris and Danielle Finley all from the Hume area; and Kearston Davenport, 8, daughter of Dan and Ressa Davenport of Hume, and Jody and JoAnn Stepp of Rich Hill.

Prince candidate is Spencer White, 5, grandson of Terry Irwin and Beverly Spencer of Hume, and Meda and Harry Wisdom of Manty KS.

The parade starts at 11 am sharp on Saturday and you can expect to see a full compliment of horses, buggies, ATV's, decorated bicycles, classic cars and more. Grand Marshall this year is Cecil McKinley, long time resident and Hume supporter.

A dance with music provided by Paragon Saturday night follows the 8 pm rodeo, topping off a busy week.
