Major facelift for long time Butler store

Stroll into the former Robertson's location on the north side of the Butler square and you will immediately notice some significant changes, including a new name-Bates County Office Supply & Sporting Goods.

New owners, Dr. Curtis Long and wife Ann are in the process of transforming the store to add sporting goods with brand names such as BassPro, Redhead, Kenetrek and more. Already, nearly $70,000 of inventory is in waiting for hunting and sporting enthusiasts. The inventory amount may easily grow to over $100,000 as customers may request items they would like to see in the store via a suggestion box.

While the store will continue to provide a wide variety of competitively priced office products and supplies,  you will notice that the east side of the store is undergoing a visual transformation to include an interesting collection of taxidermy animals taken by Dr. Long from all around the world. Russell Epperson, store manager, has accompanied Long on the hunting trips and pointed out that they will be offering photo and video documentaries of the trips as well.

Epperson went on to say "We're currently working some promotions, too, including one where when a customer spends $100 here, they will receive a $5 off coupon at their choice of several Butler businesses". He also told Bates County Live that Butler was an ideal location for this type of business "The BassPro trucks go by here all the time between Kansas City and Springfield. That means we can offer free shipping to customers who order from the BassPro catalog. And that's a huge advantage over other stores".

Grand opening is officially September 25th; more information to come. Normal hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with weekend and flexible hours added soon to accommodate shoppers.
