Obituary - Allienne Davis

Allienne Davis, 101 of Drexel, passed away December 6, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Allienne was born July 15, 1909 in Bates County, Mo., the daughter of Bennett B. and Sally (Bradbury) Limpus.  She married John H. Davis on May 5, 1929 in Kansas City, Mo.  She was a school teacher for many years in a one-room school house.
Allienne and John had a daughter in 1935, Bette Jeanne Davis.  Bette married Bob Mathison in 1956 and had three children.  Bette and her family loved the farm as well, and spent many years enjoying and visiting Allienne and John for numerous occasions.
After John passed away in 1994, Allienne – up until the age of 98 – along with her son-in-law Bob, continued to raise Hereford cattle on the farm.  Allienne lived on the farm alone as she often fed and watered the cattle, raised her vegetable garden, and even cooked Thanksgiving dinner each year for the entire family.  In 2004 she moved to Lee’s Summit and spent the rest of her days living with her daughter Bette.
Allienne was kind and generous, very intelligent, never complained, and enjoyed each and every day.  She was always positive and saw the good in people.  She loved to make homemade cookies and pies and share them with all of her family and friends.  In high school Allienne was a talented debater and she loved to write.  Her amazing memory enabled her to remember – verbatim – long stories, poems, and scriptures that she loved to recite for special occasions.
Allienne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Lyle Limpus and sister Mildred Atkinson.  She is survived by her daughter, Bette Mathison; grandchildren Vicky (Tim) Frets; Julie (Randy) Tiemeyer; Bradly (Diane) Mathison; great-grandchildren Kara (Matt) Kersten; Kyle Frets; Trevor Frets; Chandler Tiemeyer; Tucker Tiemeyer; Logan Tiemeyer; Makenzie Mathison; Morgan Mathison; and Grady Mathison.
Visitation will be 1-2pm Friday, December 10, 2010 with a funeral service at 2pm at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel (816) 657-4400.  Burial will follow in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Mo. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Drexel Christian Church or Kansas City Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home:  PO Box 500, Drexel, Mo., 64742.
