Time change reminder to change smoke detector batteries

Don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed tonight. The annual time change also serves as an excellent reminder to replace batteries in all of the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Even though the existing batteries appear to be functional, the U.S. Fire Marshall recommends replacing them anyway to help insure proper operation in the event of an emergency.
