Alice Elizabeth Stitt was born December 16, 1940 at her Cass County home, to Alex Julius "Bill" Hite and Alta Elizabeth (Carnes) Hite. She grew up and moved around the Drexel area with her family. She attended the Drexel School and graduated in 1958 from Drexel High school. She went on to graduate business college in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked at Sydney's restaurant while she went to business school.

After college, Alice worked as a court reporter. She met her lifetime sweetheart, Melvin Stitt, during this time and it took her life in another direction. They married November 26, 1960 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. They lived many years in Merwin where they began their married life. In October 18, 1974 they welcomed their first child, John Melvin Stitt and then the family grew some more when their daughter, Ruth Ann Stitt was born March 25, 1979. She enjoyed raising her children as a homemaker. They moved to a place just outside of Amsterdam where she had her own quilting business for about 15 years.

Her daughter, Ruth and her husband, Dustin brought the joy of two grandchildren, John Albert, born November 4, 2001 and Tyler Jacob, born October 19, 2002. She always enjoyed them very much and thought the world of them. She always treasured the times they had together, along with other family when they got together. Spending time with family was always an important and favorite thing for her.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and one brother. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Crawford and her husband, Dustin, Amoret, MO; one sister, Anna Wells and her husband, Gerald, Granbury, TX and two grandchildren.
