Commuters will need to find an alternate route...

Route 18/Miami Creek Bridge in Merwin Set for Replacement Beginning March 26

Bates County -- Route 18 at Miami Creek in Merwin is scheduled to CLOSE Monday, March 26, to allow contractor crews to replace the bridge, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Route 18 will remain closed at the bridge until late April or early May. Weather and/or construction delays could alter the dates the road is closed and reopened.

The old bridge is being replaced as part of MoDOT's Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

From the east, an alternate route can be to take the gravel road 1 mile east of Merwin north one mile and back west- that will put you on 18 highway one mile north of Merwin. Other routes can be found by taking the gravel road off the second curve east of Merwin- all roads will take you west to Y highway north of Amsterdam.

We'll keep you updated as construction on the bridge progresses.
