Early morning fire results in total loss

Firefighters respond to two separate residential fires just hours apart

Last night at approximately 11:31 P.M., the Butler Fire Department responded to a report of an automatic detection alarm of smoke in a residence at 605 N. Gregory in Butler. On arrival it was determined that there was smoke in the 1 1/2 story, wood frame residential structure.

Upon initiating an interior attack, fire was found in the basement in a room adjacent to the stairway.

The fire was extinguished with fire damage to the area of origin and moderate to light smoke damage throughout the remainder of the residence. Adrian Fire Dept. responded under automatic mutual aid. Units cleared the scene at 1:21 A. M.

This morning at approximately 1:42 a.m., The Butler and Adrian Fire Departments responded to a report of a structure fire on CR 3003 approximately 1/4 mi. N. of Rt. H. The first unit arriving on the scene at 1:49 A.M. found a single story, wood frame residence fully involved in fire.

The fire was extinguished with the structure and contents being a total loss. The last unit left the scene at 3:30 A.M.

There were no injuries from either incident.
