Mayor Malan presents Certificate of Appreciation to Deems

Butler City Council meeting last night...

In Butler City Council news this week, still no news concerning the city budget for the coming fiscal year, except that interested citizens should attend the Council's next regular meeting, March 20th...seven pm. at City Hall. The Council will accept suggestions and comments on the budget at that time.

The most interesting thing that happened in the meeting was Mayor Don Malan presenting a certificate of appreciation to Dillon Deems, of Deems Farm Equipment, for his donation of a wireless Cab-Cam camera observation system to the Butler Fire Department, valued at almost 700 dollars. This will be used on the department's ladder truck.

Actually, the system has two cameras...one that shows on screen, what is behind the ladder truck, and the other can be mounted on top of a ladder, which will allow fire fighters to see into the fire without risking a person's safety. since no one will have to be on the ladder with the fireman. Dillon is the son of Melody Thornton and Gary Deems.

In other council action at the meeting, an ordinance was passed to regulate roadways here in Butler during emergency weather conditions like snow, ice, high water and other possible dangers.

And, hand in hand with that ordinance was a resolution to set up priority streets for those bad weather conditions. This would include such regulations as residents having vehicles off the streets to deal with those weather problems.

Those are the highlights of the meeting...remember the public is invited to the next meeting, March 20th at seven pm, when you'll be allowed to study and comment on the upcoming city budget for fiscal year 2012-13.
