Nixle service performed as promised...

A text message received during
the statewide test today
Things got pretty loud a few minutes ago as the statewide severe weather test was performed. Storm sirens, weather radios sounded while local TV and radio stations aired the tones as well- and so far, so good.

A bonus of the test was the opportunity to see the newly implemented text and email alert service in action. The service was recently adopted by the Bates County Sheriff's Department and is provided by a nationally recognized company called Nixle.

Shown here are a couple of screen shots, both of the email and the text message received at Bates County Live. Both arrived within mere seconds of the statewide test.

You can sign up for free-Simply text your zip code to 888777 and you will be instantly registered to receive local alert text messages from Nixle. You may also receive alerts by email, mobile application or through your web browser- more information can be found on the Nixle web site at www.nixle.com.
This email was received from the Bates County Sheriff's Department via the Nixle
service informing us of the statewide severe weather test held today
