Lora "Levon" Sutton, 88, Archie, MO, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Adrian Manor Nursing Home in Adrian. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Friends may call from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
Levon was born February 22, 1924, southwest of Harrisonville, MO, the daughter of Albert Lee and Gladys (Moul) Goddard. She was a graduate of Freeman High School. She was a lifelong Cass County, MO resident. Levon married James Logan Sutton on February 16, 1941. She had worked for a short time at Solo Cup and Pratt & Whitney. She also had worked as a cook at Harvest House Restaurant in Harrisonville and cooked and baked pies at the D-Li-My Restaurant in Archie. Levon loved quilting and sewing. She was a member of Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Archie.
Levon was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, James L. Sutton and Kenneth Sevy, one son, Jim Sutton, one grandson, Andrew Sevy and one sister, Doris Marrs. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Sutton and wife, Patty, Butler, MO and Wayne Sutton and wife, Vicky, Archie, MO; two daughters, Sandy Tallman and husband, Donnie, Archie, MO and Ronda Wernex and husband, Jim, Archie, MO; two sisters, Nina Holt, Harrisonville, MO and Peggy Shipley and husband, Don, Drexel, MO; daughter-in-law, Lavonne Sutton, Drexel, MO; brother-in-law, William Sutton, Ferndale, CA; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
