Training Opportunity: Electronic Spreadsheets for Recordkeeping & Analysis

The old saying goes, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.” In order to efficiently manage resources (money, energy, time, etc.), farmers and business managers need to measure, record, and analyze information about their finances, operations, and activities. By learning to use electronic spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice’s Calc, farmers and business managers can increase their efficiency and managerial effectiveness.

In order to teach farmers, business managers, and employees how they can use electronic spreadsheets, Whitney Wiegel, Ag Business Specialist with MU Extension, will be teaching a one-day, hands-on training that will feature Microsoft Excel. During the training, participants will learn how to design and use spreadsheets to organize data, perform automatic calculations, analyze trends, and create charts. The training, which is designed for beginner and intermediate users of Excel, will take place on May 30 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Business Development Center in Clinton (1701 North 2nd St.). The cost of the training is $40 for Clinton Chamber of Commerce members or $50 for non-members. The training is sponsored by MU Extension, UCM SBTDC, and the Clinton Business Development Center.

For more information about the training or to register, call (660) 543-4402 or e-mail sbtdc@ucmo.edu. Class size is limited to 10 people, and the registration deadline is May 28th.
